Bryan Reid, Tenant at the Clubhouse & the Inn at Carnock
The career Bryan Reid has now is not quite the one he intended. He started out as an electrical engineer and now runs high end pubs! He took over the lease at the Clubhouse in Dalgety Bay in July 2008 after about 3 months of looking for the right venue. After several years in Edinburgh city centre working for Montpeliers Bryan decided it was time to do it for for himself.
So what is the secret to running a successful bar restaurant?
"Getting the right people in place, putting together a strong financial plan and having lots of experience in high volume food. And above all, don't be naive!"
So why did the Clubhouse interest him?
"It was large enough for what I needed and in the right location. I could see the potential."
After a year Bryan decided to take on another Belhaven lease in Fife, The Inn at Carnock and he quickly set about upgrading the property to appeal to a more upmarket set of customers. Both Dalgety Bay and Carnock are fairly well off areas in Fife and Bryan has been very successful at communicating to his audience by mail, text, radio, press and email.
